Playground Granola Bars

I found this recipe originally from My good friend April hosted a breakfast for dinner themed Bunco party and I figured making a homemade healthy granola bar would be perfect! Any excuse to bake and I'm all about it. 

2 cups rolled oats
3/4 cup packed brown sugar (if you like things less sweet only use 1/3 cup)
1/2 cup wheat germ
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour (can also subst. w/ whole wheat)
3/4 cup raisins (or other dried fruit)
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 cup honey
1 egg beaten
1/2 cup vegetable oil (or canola oil, I used much less than 1/2 cup)
2 tsp vanilla extract


1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees, grease a 9x13 inch pan.
2. In large bowl mix together dry ingredients. (oats, brown sugar, wheat germ, cinnamon, flour, raisins, and salt)
3. Make a hole in the center of the dry mixture and add the wet stuff. (honey, egg, oil, and vanilla). Mix everything with hands until well incorporated.
4. Pat the mixture in pan. *
5. Bake for 18-20 minutes. Let bars cool for about 5 minutes then cut them while they are still warm. 

*do not press the mixture to the very edges of the pan. Take a spatula and straighten out the edges for a nicer look. Enjoy!
