Lucy- 6 Months

Length: 27 inches (85% for her height)
Weight: 16.9 lbs (55% for her weight)
Appearance: Chubby baby! This girl is growing like mad! Every day I feel like she changes.
Firsts: First Christmas. First time trying real foods.. So far we've done carrots, avocado, butternut squash and peas. First weekend without Daddy home :-( First New Year's Eve! First time sitting un-assisted! First cold :-( First time sitting in her high chair.
Personality: She is just cracking me up lately, her personality is really starting to shine through. She loves being held and watched. When she is in her jumper she really wants you to look at her. When you do raspberries on her belly she dies laughing. She absolutely despises the car seat unless you are physically back there with her constantly doing something entertaining. She can almost sit up by herself. Lucy also really loves being naked. After a long day of diapers and clothing I get her all nakey for bath time and she squeals in delight. (I can't blame her!) She still loves bath time, story time, and her Dad's silly faces. She enjoys giving big open mouth baby kisses and blowing spitty bubbles. She throws temper tantrums but mostly only in the car set. She is in love with her jumper/activity center. When I'm cooking she loves hanging out in her Bumbo and watching me prep dinner. She loves to squeal... loudly! She now wants to feed herself and often grabs the spoon from me.
How Mama is Feeling: Feeling awesome, this child is getting more and more fun as each day passes and is recognizing so much of her surroundings. Introducing solid foods has been so much fun and I've loved making all of her baby food. Some days I feel like I've got things handled and feel on top of the world, then other days I'm a disaster and don't know what to do.. this is typically when Matt is on duty or away. I've learned the value of "me" time and how important it is to accept help from others. I'm learning to let the small things go and not to harp too much on the negative. I'm a pro at taking Lucy's temperature.. no not in the ear ;-) I can't believe how lucky I am that I get to be this little gal's Mama.
What I've learned as a mom: I've learned that I can handle it on my own when I have to. I've learned that watching your baby explore the tastes of new foods is way more entertaining than any TV show. I've learned to ALWAYS double check that you have wipes in your diaper bag. I've learned how to successfully cloth diaper. I've learned how wonderful it is when she takes a good long nap.. but how even then I miss holding her. I've learned that I will repeat a noise, or motion over and over and over again to hear this little gal laugh. Most of all I've learned that some things are getting easier.. and other things a little more difficult. I basically just take it as it comes and love watching each baby milestone.
