Amelia - 6 Months

Length: 26.5 inches ish (77%)
Weight: 17 lb 12 oz. (81%)
Appearance: She's got rolls on rolls on rolls. I'm obsessed with how chunky this child is. Her skin is so fair and so rosey all the time. Her eyes are still fiercely blue, she's got teeny lips and her hair is coming in so very blonde. She is such a long girl and wears 9 month sleepers. She even fit in a 12 month two piece pajama set the other night. Jeez! My babies certainly do not stay tiny for long.
Firsts: First time eating butternut squash and banana. (hated both) First cold.. yuck, snotty nose for days. First time finding her feet and being able to pick toys up. She can also sit completely on her own and solo play now.
Personality:  Amelia is such a wonderful baby, I mean I seriously can't say enough about how amazing she is. Regardless of when she wakes up she always has the most incredible smile when she sees you. She kicks her little legs with excitement if someone looks her way or acknowledges her presence. Overall she's pretty laid back I would say. But that doesn't mean that she doesn't have some sass.. I mean come on I made her after all. She has a very loud voice and knows how to demand exactly what she wants when she wants it. She doesn't mind when the dog licks her face or when Lucy puts stickers on her nose. She loves being carried around all day and loves bouncing away in her jumper. She hates all real food so far but certainly doesn't miss a meal. She loves to snuggle in Mama's bed early in the morning and grab onto my necklace. She's discovered her own feet and can sit like a champ. I love love love 6 months and am sad to see it go so quickly.
How Mama is Feeling: I feel really great lately. Having two is finally starting to feel not so overwhelming 24/7. Amelia is getting past that new baby phase and into one of my most favorite ages. It's no surprise how much I love babies and I look at Amelia and want to soak in every tiny moment of her development because it is flying by. She seems like such a big girl already and she's already a half a year old!? Anyway I'm feeling really great this month and loving watching my daughters interact and make one another laugh.. it's unbelievably cool.
What I've learned as a mom: I have learned not to sweat the small stuff. I've learned that you lose most battles and win only a few, and that's OK. So long as your kids are happy and healthy. I'm trying to be better understand that the hard moments are fleeting as are these ages. Soon Lucy will be off at preschool and Amelia will be chasing her sister around. I thought time flew before Amelia... sheesh it's like warp speed these days. They are only so little for such a short period.. I want to look back and remember that I cherished the simple, mundane, wonderful days inside the four walls of our home.
